Prometheus = Revolution

Percy Bysshe Shelley, “Song from “Prometheus Unbound””

From the Shelley's four-act play published in 1820, “Song from...” is a small part of this beautiful lyrical and classical drama.
It seems that Prometheus in his torment does not regret his acts and consequences, only accept the fact of his sacrifice and the will of an injustice Jupiter. The “Song...” describes the state of mind of the condemned Prometheus; the one who cannot live and only suffers loneliness in the same place. His vision of a world transforming itself into something new, living a process of evolution; this god does not understand it at all, he has been away for so long only seeing the day and how it turns into night.However, he does not hesitate to give up or regret what have he done, he still stays focus in his own ideals.His own happiness is not important nor his immortality, his actions take him to punishment; but he knows that the right decisions he commits against Jupiter, bring better fortune to men; like a savior to progress and light for the darkness. Fighting Jupiter's selfish purposes. In the end of this drama,unlike the original one made by Aeschylus, this ruler god is overthrown and Prometheus returns to freedom. This is a strong contrast and a great difference of ideals between both authors in separated times; it can be the evolution of “liberty” and their own original concept.Something curious about the story of Prometheus Unbound is the fear of the other gods to Jupiter and the pity for Prometheus; in some way they just know that injustice has been committed by their major god and for that he must pay for his acts.In the “Song...”, the theme are the thoughts of the prisoned god and how another being worries about him and tries to help; who is this person? Maybe the same author, who reclaims justice and suffers the pain of Prometheus, he feels the torment, but at the same time he knows of the righteous decisions of this god and the illumination that brings to humans; to the ones that can die.
Reading it for the first time is difficult to understand it. The author does not give information or clues about the characters in this song, he determines that the reader knows exactly of what he talks. An amazing vocabulary and a perfect choice of words, makes this poem a delightful experience.Changing the rhythm and the perspectives produces a confusing relation between the two characters;even though,“Song...” does exactly his intention: a sophisticated trace of the true power in Prometheus Unbound; one of the most influential and masterpieces in art history.

    I have to be honest I haven't explore too much in english literature... the last book I red in english was Night by Elie Wiesel not difficult for me but imagine I think I should increase my level of english to understand a huge drama, I'm not good enough at it. And you know what I cannot allow myself to say a lot of this I don´t even know why I'm writing in english... I´m shame!
    Well all I can say is that you describe this drama very well is not long or boring is completly the oppossite you give your perception and curiously you invite us to read it without the intention of doing this I think
    In few words have good structure, good organization of ideas, the comprehension mmm was my fault (just kidding) all that is really good in your text by the way just check the grammar but don´t trust in me I can´t determinate if is due to my lack of study or is your mistake...

    Kisses and hugs!!! ;0)
